In my opinion there is not a professional diagnosis needed for all cases. You have to have confidence in yourself and realize you're starting to organize your system young and that you can conquer the world if you keep your system working together and not against each other.

It sounds, from what you say, that you are very cognizant of your others and in time you could master more control over each of them...in a good way.

To make you feel better, when someone finds out about my MPD, I usually say funny things to joke around like, "well, I know it's all in my head...but they don't..." or "yeah, the voices told me I don't have MPD, it's all in my head..." and I laugh it off. Because, the truth is, I am ME and you are YOU and if you are able to succeed in life being different and unique, you will find others in your life that will appreciate and love every part of you.

It takes time and struggle but it's a great reward!

Glad you came back to update me.

Hey Cat, I haven't been here in a very long time. You always have to come back to those who are impossible to forget! xD

Anyway, I started therapy October 2007 and had endless sessions to see if I had DID. Finally, I was going to see psychiatrist who can officially diagnose me, but the new school began (middle college, I take both high school and college classes), and the scheduling was tough. My mother and I made the harsh decision of quitting therapy before even getting the diagnosis.

It's a bit tough. My two best friends are, sadly, one of the skeptical people. They don't believe very much in DID and don't really believe me. It's hard to prove something like that. You can't just make one of the alters "come out". That was before high school began. When high school hit, I promised myself not to show my personalities. Unfortunately, one of them took dominance for a while and even had a boyfriend. So, few people know about it. My own boyfriend, who has supported me for so many years, has helped me through this and has guesses that I have about 3 or 4 other personalities.

I also started watching "United States of Tara" a few days ago and I could help but think about you. I decided to come back here and say hello! =]

Continue making this blog. You are doing a marvelous thing by educating people about multiple personalities.

I was about to be diagnosed young by the way. If I had stayed, I would have probably been diagnosed at the age of 14.

Take care!
