She ended up calling me 10 days into the trip, asking if she could come home early. It all worked out, and she did come home. It's good to know she feels her home is comfortable. Even now, as my kids are growing up, I feel a sense of loss each time one of them leaves. My oldest recently moved into her own apartment for the first time, with her boyfriend. As I drove away from there, I realized that she would never live with me again. That has been hard, and she is 21, an adult. We just love them. Nothing wrong with that. I know this is common with the friends I have whose kids go to camp or similar things. There are probably many reasons why it's so hard. Have you thought of what they are for you?
