Discover Card, “Current”

Discover Card has a great new debit card called Current by Discover Card that’s designed specifically for children ages 13-18.  With amazing design choices and super options for parents, this card will become both a teacher and guide starting point for your kids.  Discussing finances can be challenging until certain ages, but it’s never too early to start practicing with a budget and set allowance.  I like to teach my children to spend less and save more…but with goals.  It doesn’t always go so well and I have found that my son, with his bank account, uses his debit card 100% of the time and depends on the computer and online connection to balance things.

This card puts you more in control as a parent by allowing you to set spending limits.  Daily/Weekly/Monthly options give you several ways to keep track of your child that’s learning the ins and outs of keeping to a spending budget.  You can also block certain merchants (ATM’s, liquor stores, etc.) to keep your child safe.  Using the system, you can set email or text alerts that will keep you in touch with it all even when you’re away from your computer.

Using Discover’s new card option, and checking in with the online resources that they offer, can help you talk to your kids about money and how to best manage it.  Check out the new debit card for your children if you’re interested.  Thanks MomCentral.com for inviting me to talk to my readers about yet another awesome opportunity!

Great just what a kid needs a cc. I know my kids would have a blast with this. So who pays the bill when it comes in.

Maybe you failed to click the link and see that it’s not really a Credit Card, but an account that parents can set up for their children to learn RESPONSIBLE spending.

Therefore, it has spending limits and pre-funded setups so there is no “pay the bill” issue at the end of the day.

Click the link, it’s very informative and might keep you from commenting with error. :)
