Switching Personalities

  • Posted on September 30, 2006 at 2:55 pm

This topic is really hard for me to write on. I feel as if, at times, when I write about my personalities I’m being so transparent and open and that takes away any defense I have in life. I realize that I’m in a safe position now as I heal, but my instinct is to keep and hold things close to my heart so that IF anything ever happens to me again, I’ll be ready.

Do you see how it works? Someone enters my life when I am young and tears my world apart with abuse. Then, I feel like I’m helpless to it so I continue to get into abusive situations, playing the victim over and over, which hurts me even more. I find out that I’m possibly very worthless during that time and so I put defenses up so that I will not get hurt anymore (or hurt others, in some cases). THEN, after finding out that:

Football Games

  • Posted on September 30, 2006 at 11:35 am

We like to watch football here in our home. We have a family living with us for a month, and THEY like watching football too. We went on a hunt with services that Dish Network offered because we have a Raiders fan here. I didn’t realize how many sports services the Dish companies have going!

Now, our arrangement is that we have two living rooms. One is upstairs (ours) and one is downstairs in the basement (theirs for a month) so there shouldn’t be any issues with what game we want to watch and scheduling. I went on the search though for this guy so that he could watch his favorite team.

There’s the NFL Sunday Ticket stuff…and even special hockey, baseball, basketball and college categories too. I did not know that you could order this extra until we looked up how to view the Raiders game for our friend. AND if you have Dish and you want to watch, say, the Cowboy game, you have to get DirectTV to really get the right service. WHAT?
I think if you are an avid sports fan you could definitely spend a pretty penny on ordering one of these special channels to view a special game…then comes the ordering of another channel to view another game…

All I know is–Sunday, I want some WINGS!

We’re planning a big Sunday Football day and I’m going to go fishing early in the morning and then come home to make some hot wings, cheese sticks and pizza. There’s nothing that goes better with a game than wings and the other stuff is just “gravy”.

Police Scanner To The Rescue

  • Posted on September 28, 2006 at 10:22 pm

I’ve decided I “need” a police scanner. Yeah, that’s right, a police scanner. Why do I need one?

Tonight I was on my way out the door to pick up my son and his friend. Before I left, I received a phone call from my friend. She quickly said, “there’s a high speed chase on the way to your neighborhood”…I paused…”do what, Anne?”

Again, she said, “there is a high speed chase coming down the road into your neighborhood”

I walked upstairs as I asked questions, “what kind of car is it?”
She said, “it’s a Jeep. The guy stole it from his ex-wife after assaulting her…”

Sirens sounded down the road and red and blue lights were becoming visible from around the foothills.

“Ok, let me hear what is going on via your scanner, just put me on speakerphone” I said.

She proceeded to place the police scanner on speakerphone and I heard it all.

Itchy Stitchin’ Finger

Itchy Stitchin’ Finger is a blog by a friend of mine. Now that winter is fast approaching, it makes me want to pick up the needle and get to crocheting. We’ll see what motivation I find.

I learned how to crochet years ago with my grandmother. I re-learned after one of my hospital stays. I was placed in a rehab. situation so that moving from the hospital to real life would be a bit easier. It’s hard to come from that type of situation and immediately start taking care of yourself.

We thought (my therapist, my husband and parts of me) it might make it easier on me during that transition. So, I ended up in Durango in a little house. I was the only resident at first. We sorted through medication and they made sure I knew what I was taking and why.
